Liver Healing 101
Do you feel more sluggish, bloated & irritable than normal? Do you eat healthy but still don’t feel healthy? You’re not alone!
Between quarantine & the start of colder days, most of us have been stressed, drinking a bit more than usual, falling out of our healthy habits. Therefore, pushing our inflammation levels to an all time high.
NOW is the best time to have a good seasonal cleanse. Get your health back to an optimal place so you can look and feel your best.
Where to start?
Get to Know Your Liver
More than ever before, our bodies are bombarded with stressors, from pollution to chemicals in skin care products to preservatives in the foods we eat. All this can cause a buildup of dangerous substances in the body, such as molds & heavy metals. Which leads to chronic inflammation and gives our liver much more work to do.
The liver metabolizes proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, and it processes environmental toxins from heavy metals, chemicals, and radiation. It also stores vitamins and minerals. On an emotional level, it helps us process our emotions and thoughts. It acts as a filter helping us to move things through and out of us. Essentially not letting unwanted things (physically & mentally) to build up, congest, and ultimately inflame us.
Your liver is quite the forgiving organ and is one of the fastest organs to regenerate and heal. It is a natural detoxifier. However, since our lives are more polluted than ever, give it the support it needs!
How to Help Your Liver?
1. Cut Out
You’ve heard it before but we’ll say it again, cut down on sugar, bad oils (sunflower, canola, corn, vegetable ect.), fried & processed food, alcohol & coffee. These are all pollutants that clog up the filter that is your liver. Alcohol is especially damaging for the liver as it causes bacteria to grow in your gut, which can eventually move through the intestinal wall and into the liver, leading to liver damage. Simply by nourishing your body with healing foods that are easily digestible, your body will be given the chance to focus on detoxifying the liver. Therefore it will functioning to the best of its ability!
Liver Friendly Foods:
- Almonds, Sunflower Seeds, Cashews (all high in Vitamin E)
- Artichokes & Asparagus
- Berries, Apples & Pears
- Beets & Brussel Sprouts
- Leafy Greens
- Salmon, Sardines
- Dandelion Root Tea
2. Add In
So what should you do? Start by including quality sleep & extra oxygen in your lifestyle – through a good workout! Working up a sweat in a workout actually aids in taking some of the detoxification burden off of your liver. The skin is a major detoxification organ, and sweating is the best way to get the toxins out of our body.
Focus on a diet of whole, organic foods including veggies, fruits, whole grains, beans, nuts, sustainably raised fish & eggs. What’s important is to give your body a break from foods with additives & pesticides and foods that trigger sensitivities, like gluten. My favourite way to build up a solid foundation and gently cleanse my liver daily is to have my morning ph balanced green formula, the Super Elixir. My favourite liver loving recipes are: Vegan Superfood Soup, Savoury Chipotle Salmon, Crunchy Berry Crumble, Quinoa Goddess Salad, & Butternut Squash Soup.
3. Level Up Your Hydration
How much water have you had today? Drink up! Increase your daily water intake, it’s essential for a well functioning liver. Sip on lemon water throughout the day, it is a great way to stay hydrated. Hydration promotes the movement of toxins out of the body. In addition, for even more benefits add a few drops of the Curtonic Anti-Inflammatory Tincture. The Curtonic is made with turmeric which will protect against liver stress and reduce inflammation. Here’s more of what to do & what not to do for a healthy body!

4. Boost the B Vitamins
Found in greens such as chlorella, these vitamins are generally lacking in North American’s diet and get further depleted when consuming alcohol. You can easily boost your B Vitamins levels on the daily with the Super Elixir! Chlorella is a key ingredient in the Super Elixir as it’s high in antioxidant properties, Vitamin C, beta-carotene & more! The Super Elixir is also made with Dandelion, which is known to help remove harmful toxins from the liver and stimulate bile production. This pH balancing formula is free from synthetics and any added sugars that many other greens powders secretly hid in their formulas. Synthetics are chemicals that pollute your liver. Lastly, added sugars..well its pretty clear we’re not a fan of them!
5. Support with Supplements
The top liver-supporting supplements are Milk Thistle, Dandelion, Burdock, Schisandra extracts and Turmeric also promote healthy liver function. All of these rare super herbs are found in the Detoxifying Liver Tonic Super Booster. For when you’re truly feeling run down, bloated, hungover or just not your best self, refresh your liver with a 14 day reset using the Detoxifying Liver Tonic Super Booster.

6. Tea Time
Green Tea & Matcha are liver loving foods! Matcha has been shown to help support natural detoxification in both the kidneys and the liver. Studies have shown that daily consumption of matcha will drastically decrease liver enzyme levels in the body – high enzyme levels are not good! The phytochemicals in matcha promote healthy inflammation levels in the body and calm your system while boosting energy!
7. Become a Fan of Fermentation
Sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, and other fermented foods are loaded with good bacteria. In addition to their immunity-boosting powers, they also help usher out heavy metals and boost your gut health. Supporting your gut will in turn benefit your liver! Fermented foods are super high in good probiotics, or is it prebiotics…Do you know the difference? Find out here!
8. Keep in Mind…
Ultimately, a liver cleanse or doing a detox comes from a significant lifestyle change. However, it’s not just what you eat, it’s what you feel! Our livers also process emotional & mental baggage in our body. For a happy liver, focus on the primary foods in your life, they are almost more important that what you physically feed your body! For example, primary foods include having healthy relationships, fulfilling careers, prioritizing physical activity and spiritual awareness. Healthy habits that promote calmness in your life is the key to a strong liver & a joyous life. For a drop of calm every evening, the Sedatonic Calming Ashwagandha Tincture will give you the sense of relaxation your body craves.
