Clearing up your skin can be a challenge, for some, it is a lifelong struggle. As a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach & HCA Licensed Health Coach™, I always recommend that my clients who struggle with bad skin, to first take the Super Elixir daily, and second, eat these foods. Trust me, with time, you will achieve that alkaline glow.
I always start off my day with The Super Elixir pH Balanced Green Alkalizing formula. 1. Cruciferous veggies
Kale, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussel sprouts and cabbage are crazy high in antioxidants. They have sulfur and carotenoid-containing compounds that really help clear your skin.
Turmeric is the superfood of superfoods. It is filled with both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties (an absolute blessing for your skin). I recommend taking approximately 1 generous tsp of turmeric a day. Add it either in a home cooked meal or in a smoothie!
There is a reason why I always add 1 or 2 small cucumbers to my green smoothies. Yes, cucumbers are a go-to when you want to reduce puffiness under our eyes (flash-back to our teenage slumber parties), but its healing properties don’t end there. Cucumbers are filled with water, helping your body digest better and detoxify itself. Rich in vitamin C, cucumbers help soothe irritated, swollen skin.
When you think of ‘flaxseed’, think ‘omega-3’. Omega-3 is a must if you want to achieve the best skin of your life. It helps your cell walls stay strong and intact, while helping to reduce inflammation. They are great for balancing blood sugar lows and managing sugar cravings. Flaxseeds are an awesome way to keep your digestive system on track.
5. Wild organic salmon
Like flaxseeds, wild organic salmon is crazy rich in long chain omega-3 fats. Omega-3 helps our bodies reduce its amount of inflammatory substances, all while decreasing clogged pores, fine lines and wrinkles. Eat your salmon ladies and gents!
Ah, garlic. Makes any meal taste 10 times better and it helps you get glowing skin. What else could you ask for? Historically, it is known as being the go-to cure for everything from headaches to insomnia. Plus, it helps the liver detoxify. Plus, its anti-fungal, anti-aging and it helps the skin stay smoothe.
I know… it seems as though avocados can literally do anything. Basically, avocado is amazing because it is so rich in essential fatty acids. That’s why this little fruit works magic on your hair, skin & nails. Avocado helps you manage sugar cravings (yes, please!). Oh, and did I mention that avocado makes an awesome face mask too?
First off, papaya tastes awesome. High in enzymes and vitamin C, papaya really helps your skin glow. Add it to your smoothie or use it as a face mask, Papaya is always good on the inside and out.
Tomatoes are filled with an antioxidant called lycopene. Lycopene is an absolute must when it comes to fighting free radicals. It also helps your skin fight sun damage. Here’s a tip: lycopene is best absorbed in your body when the tomatoes are cooked. So, pan fry those beauties, and say hello to gorgeous skin!
