What is Integrative nutrition? Integrative nutrition, just like functional medicine, is geared towards determining the ROOT of a problem and finding its bespoke solution. Unlike with traditional approaches, you will no longer be subject to typical one-size-fits-all diets. The Integrative Nutrition Approach is not about calorie counting or restriction, rather it is about linking the mind & body and not about finding the right number on a scale for you.

Bio-Individuality

I heavily base my practice on a concept called Bio-Individuality, which is built on the notion that each of us has unique food and lifestyle needs. This concept steers us away from the fad diets that set us up for failures in the long-term. One person’s food can be another person’s poison. As we work together from a bio-individual standpoint, we are able to achieve your short-term and long-term goals, and positive changes will ensue based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences and family history.

Primary Foods

One of the first things we will tap into while working together, is helping you prioritize your “primary foods” over your “secondary foods”. Read carefully: your “primary foods” aren’t necessarily comprised of actually food. They are entities that contribute to your sense of nourishment and fulfillment and can be easily overlooked. These essential forms of nourishment take the form of healthy relationships, engaging and fulfilling careers, physical activity and spiritual awareness. “Primary foods” feed your soul. When these “primary foods” are properly balanced, your “secondary foods” can come into play. “Secondary foods” are what you actually eat.

Crowding Out

As your coach, I am going to instruct you to EAT MORE! By eating more good, you will naturally expel the bad in your system. This is the essence of “crowding out”. Simply put, I will help you crowd out the unhealthy food in your diet and make room for the good. This way you will naturally have less room and desire for unhealthy foods.

The Craving Analysis

As a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, one of the main things I will analyze are your cravings. More specifically what you crave and when you crave them. Understanding cravings plays a critical role in grasping what your body needs and when. Together, we will deconstruct your cravings, giving you the tools to understand what your cravings are really telling you. With all these tools at hand, you will be able to reclaim a sense of balance and harmony within yourself.
